Sunday Service

Sunday Service

Each of us has a calm joyful center, deep within. It may get lost in the hectic pace of life today, but it is there, waiting patiently for us. Sunday worship at Ananda helps us get back in touch with that center once again—whether it be called the soul, the Self, or God.

The Sunday worship service at Ananda is inspired by the meditation tradition of the East and the ancient teachings of mystical Christianity, with inspirational readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, group chanting and meditation, an inspirational talk drawn from the writings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and a unique blessing ceremony called the Festival of Light.

Sunday Service and Festival of Light are an experience of attuning to the joy of your inner Self through prayer, chanting, meditation, and affirmations, scripture readings, and sermon.

Sunday Services are held on the First and Third Sundays of each month.  On the Third Sunday of each month, a group meditation is held from 10:15 to 10:45 AM, before Service.

The Festival of Light is a celebration and a poetic allegory of the long process of spiritual awakening. Divine Grace is celebrated, personified by the return of the masters, ever and again, to guide us out of delusion into the clear light of Spirit. Enjoy the songs and poetry of this beautiful ceremony and “lift up your heart in a Festival of Light”!

Our hearts and our sanctuary are open to people of all faiths, races, orientations, truth-seekers, people exploring meditation for the first time, and anyone who seeks a deeper understanding of the meaning and purpose of life.
